SABRINA born Roli Alexandra "Xanxan" Orial in Laguna on December 30, 1989. She is the youngest of 3 siblings. She studied BA Communication Arts at University of the Philippines, Los Baños, Laguna
Her I Love Acoustic album went gold in the Philippines, and also in other countries including Indonesia and Thailand.
The current acoustic act upsurge may largely be credited to the success of MCA Music act Sabrina, especially after her debut album “I Love Acoustic” achieved gold status here and abroad, particularly in countries like Indonesia and Thailand. After her, other Filipina lady singers joined the acoustic trip and the bandwagon was ensured.
With her recording triumph, the lovely voiced artist goes up the ladder with a follow-up to her best-selling album, wittily calling her new offering “I Love Acoustic Too” The album features acoustic renditions of hits like “Ms. Brightside” “Bleeding Love” “Insomnia” and “Because of You” the CD’s carrier single.
Just a month after its release, Sabrina’s new album has climbed to the top of retail charts in the country. Major record bars like Music One already certified it as a hit-selling purchase, making it truly deserving as sequel to its predecessor which also topped the OPM Bestsellers of big chain store like Odyssey Music and Video.
Sabrina’s producers expected their artist’s debut CD success, they chorused, “It is no surprise why people couldn’t get enough of this breakthrough offering. Giving pop hits a different twist, this album transports listeners to a realm of relaxation and provides audiences a revitalizing feeling. It also hits the sentimental touch point of the young, taking them to a trail down memory lane through the songs they have grown up listening to.
Tracks from the first “I Love Acoustic” have been used as themes for various programs from leading local TV networks. The record no doubt propelled Sabrina to becoming Awit Awards’ “Artist of the Year.”
MCA Music's pop acoustic sister-duo Krissy & Ericka have released their album not just in the Philippines, but in other parts of Asia as well.
Branching out from their Youtube channel, these teen sensations are starting to make a name for themselves. Known by their real names online and offline, siblings Regine Kristine a.k.a. Krissy (16) and Ericka Renee Villongco (17) started out around two years ago on YouTube. Offering a fresh mix of covers and originals, these songwriter-guitarists describe their genre as "glam countrified pop."
MCA Music Inc., and its mother company the Universal Music Group, released the self-titled album of the pop-duo in two Asian countries, namely Thailand and Indonesia.
In the Philippines, we only have a handful of OPM artists who have penetrated the Asian market. Krissy & Ericka are blessed to be included in this category. They are known for their mixed country pop styling and when they speak in English, foreigners often ask them which country they hail from. They always answer with a smile, "We are sisters from the Philippines!"
Young as they are, Krissy & Ericka have already been seen in various shows and have performed alongside singers such as Richard Poon and Sam Milby.
Lounge music is a retrospective description of music popular in the 1950s and 1960s. It is a type of mood music meant to evoke in the listeners the feeling of being in a place - a jungle, an island paradise, outer space, et cetera - other than where they are listening to it. The range of lounge music encompasses beautiful music-influenced instrumentals, modern electronica (with chillout, nu-jazz and downtempo influences), while remaining thematically focused on its retro-space-age cultural elements. The earliest type lounge music appeared during the 1920s and 1930s, and was known as light music. Contemporaneously, the term lounge music also denotes the types of music played in hotels (the lounge, the bar), casinos, and piano bars.
